From Rags to Enrichment!

Would you believe there is an organization that encourages artists, enriches education, and helps furnish businesses all while promoting environmental awareness and reuse?  Well, there is!  It's called Materials for the Arts and we at Carlton Hobbs are proud advocates of this program!

Materials for the Arts is a wonderful organization that gathers materials from companies or individuals that no longer have need of them, and then redistributes the goods to artists, teachers or public school programs that do!  It has been aiding artistic organizations since 1978, and the supplies are absolutely invaluable to public schools and community arts programs.

The organization started with the need for a donated working refrigerator and has grown to 713 tons of materials valued at over $7,052,958!

We love to contribute to Materials for the Arts by collecting and donating old catalogs and anything else that might be of  value.  Every year we donate of 2,000 catalogs!

It's extremely easy to become a donor.  Instructions on how to do so are listed on the website along with a list of most frequently needed items.

Some of the items most needed are:
Chairs
Computers (no more than 4 years old)
Printers, scanners and fax machines
Household items (vases, lamps, irons)
Frames
Office supplies
Paper and posterboard
Projectors
Video equipment
Wallpaper and other decorating items

Ted Minos (Producing Artistic Director, Moose Hall Theatre Company) says it best: "Materials for the Arts is a successful and very exceptional program of great benefit to the non-profit artistic community."  We couldn't agree more.
